All Premier Radiators are heated by an exclusive Silox Stone. This is the storage element that retains heat, making Premier Radiators more efficient than direct electric panel heaters that have no storage component. Our Natural Stone range contains both an external and internal storage element, providing optimum heat output.
The Silox Stone is a made from a mixture of silicon and aluminium oxide that is then condensed with 5000 tonnes of pressure. The resulting dense stone acts as a highly efficient storage element that is so tough it can only be cut by diamond. It is because of the stones durability that we are able to offer a 5 year guarantee on the heater with 2 years on electronic components.
HOW THE SiLOX STONE WORKS
The Silox Stone works by firstly storing heat from the electricity. It will take approx. 10-15 minutes to reach temperature. After temperature is reached, the Silox Stone will work towards warming the room.
The stone itself will output radiant heat. Whilst it warms close by objects, the vents at the bottom and top of the heater will push cold air through the heater. As the cold air comes into contact with the Silox Dual Stone, the air will be warmed, ready for being convected around the room to lift the air temperature.
Once the air temperature has lifted to what is set on the touchscreen LED thermostat, the heater will stop dispersing heat into the room. Whilst the heater is inactive, the Silox Dual Stone will retain heat for longer. If the air temperature lowers in the room, the heater will have enough stored heat to lift the temperature back to the thermostats setting without the requirement / expense of any electricity in the process. This is an efficient way of heating that can help towards lowering energy bills.
